Normally these treatments come in the forms of powders or other types of ointments that simply need to be spread over the infected areas.

Lime and sulphur mixes are something that will need to be prescribed for your animal. Generally, when a vet prescribes this type of solution, as the owner you will be instructed on how the solution will need to be applied. However, normally the solution is meant to be applied when you are giving your animal a bath.

Your vet may also decide to prescribe anti-bacterial drugs to your pet. Again, this course of action is normally performed based off of the severity of the problem. Your vet may decide to prescribe an oral treatment to your pet or something that you can put onto the infected area.

This type of medication will need to be given to your dog, until their redness and swollen appearance within the infected area has been eliminated. There are some problems that can arise from these medications. Make sure that you understand the risks of administering these drugs before giving them to your animal.

This condition generally exists in dogs that have spent a long time in dog pounds, as well as animals that have lived on the streets. However, your animal may obtain the condition from other areas so there is actually no designated type of dog that receives this ailment over the other.
