Dr. Keith Webb with his dog “Lilly”
I graduated from the University of Missouri-Columbia College of Veterinary Medicine in 1988 and immediately took a full time veterinary associate position with Pet Vet Animal Hospital in North Dallas. Pet Vet was a low price, high volume clinic. At the time there were two other full time veterinarians on staff. Being a high volume clinic, I rapidly increased my knowledge of both medicine and surgery. I became very proficient at surgery, often performing 40-50 per day. Within 3 years, I became the chief veterinarian at this location. Between 1992-1994, I helped open several of the PetSmart Veterinary Hospitals (aka Banfield Animal Hospitals) in the DFW area. In 1993, I started a mobile vaccination clinic on my days off. I owned a RV and would travel around to different locations giving dog and cat vaccinations and basic health care. This business grew very rapidly and it was not uncommon to vaccinate over 150 pets in a 4 hour period. But there was one drawback, my employer did not like the fact that I grew so fast and released me in 1994.
I took a job at the Animal Clinic of Farmers Branch in 1995 and worked there for 2 years until I felt that it was time to open my own practice. In February 1997, I opened Pet Doctor in Richardson and since I was moving to Rockwall, I opened a second Pet Doctor in October of 2000. But after about a year, I found it somewhat difficult to manage 4 veterinarians and 15 staff members between both locations so I sought a buyer for my first hospital. In December of 2001, I sold the Pet Doctor in Richardson to a large corporation, VCA Veterinary Hospitals.
I still practice at my Rockwall clinic and I’ve treated more than 20,831 pets in this area, but we’re still taking new patients, so come on in and give us a try. I own three dogs and one cat; “Lilly”, a Brussels Griffon; “Sadie”, a Golden Retriever; “Kirby”, a Pomeranian and “Sunny”, a Mancoon cat. My hobbies include family and fishing.
